Zoetermeer, Netherlands – 9 September, 2024 – Sasma, one of the world's largest independently-owned suppliers of bulk spirits and high-quality alcohol, is thrilled to announce the development of its new facility, Halsteren. This strategic initiative aims to consolidate Sasma's filling activities under one roof, ensuring improved service efficiency and an expanded product line for customers globally.

Purpose and Strategic Advantage

The primary objective of Halsteren is to unify all third-party filling activities, under one management. "The main reason is not so much cost-saving, but rather the ability to provide better and faster service to our customers while extending our product line," stated Sasma's representative during a recent interview.

Strategic Location

Strategically located between Antwerp and Rotterdam, Halsteren offers logistical advantages, allowing Sasma to efficiently send and receive containers from both major ports. This location supports streamlined operations and enhances Sasma's ability to meet global demand.

Capacity and Growth

The Halsteren facility will house 23 tanks, designed to meet all current requirements and future growth. "We built Halsteren with growth in mind, ensuring that we won't face capacity issues in the foreseeable future," added the representative. This facility will store a variety of alcohols, including whiskies, brandies, and specialty products, all managed under one system.

Sustainability and Innovation

In line with Sasma's commitment to sustainability, the Halsteren facility will feature 150 solar panels, aiming to satisfy all its electrical requirements. The plant will also have a backup generator to ensure uninterrupted operations. "Our goal is to operate sustainably, with solar panels providing electricity for our HVAC, office, and tank farm," the representative emphasized.

Safety and Community Considerations

Located in an industrial zone, the facility is designed to minimize disruption to residential areas. It will feature a CO2 firefighting system to prevent environmental harm from traditional fire extinguishing chemicals.

Timeline and Future Outlook

Construction of the Halsteren facility is set to begin on September 12, 2024, with an expected opening in April 2026. The facility will include a small laboratory for quick analysis and quality control, a conference area, and provisions for BBQs and get-togethers to foster community and team spirit.
